Cold sores,fever blisters are caused by herpes simplex(HSV-1)
is not different that causes genital herpes.
they first appear thee to ten days after exposure to the virus and may last up to three weeks.
the virus moves into the nervous system close to the lips and remains permanently in the body it will lie dormant there until triggered by fever,other viral infection or cold,exposure to sun and wind,stress,menstruation,high levels of amino acid and depression of the immune system.the sores are very contagious .Studies have shown that between 30 and 60 percent of children carry the virus by the age of ten.

stage two. swelling may start and may be slightly red.Stage three brings first signs of blisters.
Stage four is the most painful and a soft crust or ulcer forms.
